I wrote off rebuilt alternators as junk until a guy at the parts counter in Reno explained the core charge
I always paid full price for new alternators on my beaters because I figured a $70 rebuilt from the chain store was just someone else's dead part with a fresh coat of paint. The guy at the counter in Reno told me the rebuilts come with a lifetime warranty and if it dies I just swap it at any store in the country, no receipt games, and that new ones fail too. So am I the only one who was paying double for peace of mind that was not even real?
