Why does every 2014 Focus treat its own transmission like a grenade?

I had a 2014 Focus in Austin and the clutch shudder started at 28k miles, way before Ford ever admitted anything. Took it to three shops and two of them said it was normal wear, which is insane for a car that was basically new. I get that DCTs are cheap to build, but why keep selling them when the software can't even figure out when to shift? Anyone else stuck paying for a TCM replacement out of pocket?
