Unpopular opinion: the Ford Pinto got more hate than it deserved, and a guy at a car show in Dayton last weekend made me type this
I was standing next to a stock 1974 Pinto at a show in Dayton and some guy in a lawn chair told me the rear end never bothered him in 20 years of driving one. That got me going. One side says the car was a rolling firebomb and the recall was way too slow. Other side says the crash tests that started the panic were done at 30 mph with a moving barrier, and plenty of other small cars from that era did worse. What do you all think, was the Pinto a real case of bad engineering or just the one that got caught? Tell me which side you land on.
