The 5 cent zip tie trick that stopped my 2010 Jetta from eating coil packs
My 2010 Jetta burned through 3 coil packs in 8 months and the dealer kept telling me it was normal. A VW guy at a cars and coffee in Grand Rapids showed me the wiring harness runs right over the exhaust manifold and the heat cooks the insulation, causing shorts. He told me to cut the harness free from the clips, wrap it in a $4 heat sleeve, and zip tie it 3 inches away from the manifold. That was 14 months ago and the same coil pack is still in there, hasn't misfired once. Anyone else dealt with VW routing wires next to hot parts, or is this just a MK5 thing?
