Serious question, why do people blame the water pump on 3.6 Pentastars when the real killer is that plastic thermostat housing at 80k?

Three guys on my block in Mesa have swapped pumps on their Journeys and every single time the leak was actually that $28 housing cracking at the seam, so has anyone else noticed this or am I just unlucky with the ones I've touched?
