I thought people were exaggerating about the Ford Focus transmission issues, then mine died at 47k miles

I bought a 2014 Focus used because it was cheap and got good gas mileage, right? Everyone online was screaming about the DPS6 dual clutch shuddering and I figured they were just being dramatic. Nope, 2 years in and it started jerking so bad in stop and go traffic that my coffee cup would slide off the dash. Took it to a shop in Portland and the guy said the clutch packs were cooked, common as dirt. Has anyone actually gotten Ford to cover this out of warranty or am I stuck eating the repair bill?

I had a 2013 Focus and it started bucking at 35k miles, felt like learning to drive stick all over again. Took it to a dealer in Seattle and they wanted $1400 for new clutches, said it was out of warranty by 6 months. Ford did nothing when I called corporate, just offered a $200 goodwill check. Im stuck with it still since the resale value is trash, so I just avoid hills and heavy traffic now.
