I dropped $200 on a custom intake for my Focus ST and it actually made things worse
I was chasing that turbo noise so bad I ordered this fancy aluminum intake from some brand I saw on Instagram. Paid $200 and spent a Sunday afternoon installing it in my driveway in Houston. Thing sounded great for about a week until my check engine light came on - the MAF sensor kept throwing codes because the tube diameter was off by like 2mm. Took it off, put the stock box back on, and the car runs fine now. Anyone else gotten burned by aftermarket parts that just don't fit right?

Are you sure it wasn't just a bad tune or something? I've seen people throw on intakes and they're fine, the MAF thing sounds like maybe you got a dud or the install wasn't perfect. Sometimes folks get too picky about small stuff.

Huh, nobody's talking about how some intakes mess with the evap system on these cars.
