Can we talk about how the 2004 to 2006 Nissan Quest put the spare tire under the passenger seat?
I was poking around a junkyard in Akron last weekend and popped the hatch on a Quest, only to find no spare in the usual spot, so I looked it up and the tire is bolted under the front passenger seat and you have to unbolt it from underneath the van. A kid at the yard told me his shop charges extra for anything Quest related because of it, and one bolt usually snaps from rust. How is anyone supposed to change a flat on the side of the road with traffic blowing past them while they crawl under the seat?
Wait, do you really think Nissan expected people to crawl under the van on the side of the road? I get why it looks that way but the spare under the seat was actually a thing on tons of vans back then, my old Previa had it tucked underneath too. The idea was you move the flat tire out of the way so you can still haul cargo, not so you swap it on I-76 at night. Most of those vans came with a jack and the bolt was supposed to get greased at every oil change, which nobody ever did, so yeah they rust solid.
