Why does nobody warn you that the 6am meet is really a 6am parking war
A guy in a beat up Miata told me last Sunday at the Riverside lot that he shows up at 5:40 just to claim the corner spot by the trash can, and now I can't stop thinking about how much of car meets is really just parking strategy. I rolled in at 6:15 and ended up squeezed between a Veloster and a light pole. Am I the only one who thinks we should just draw spots on the ground with chalk?
Chalk spots sound nice until it rains and the lines wash away, then it's back to every person for themselves. The real fix is just showing up earlier, like the Miata guy figured out. I got to the Riverside lot at 5:50 last month and had my pick of spots, but the one time I slept in and rolled in at 6:20 I was wedged next to a truck with a trailer hitch sticking out. Half the fun of a meet is the cruise in anyway, so getting up a little earlier is not that big a deal. What time do you usually leave your place to get there?
