The $180 detail spray that did nothing but streak my windshield

Picked up that ceramic spray at the Gas Monkey meet last month on a vendor's word... three coats later my windshield looks worse than the free stuff from the dollar store. Anybody else get burned by miracle products at these shows, or am I just the only one dumb enough to trust a guy with a popped collar and a rented GTR? What's the best actually worth it product you've found under $50?
