I finally gave in and bought a battery powered impact for tire changes
Been using a breaker bar and torque wrench since I started driving 15 years ago. Saw everyone at the Cars and Coffee in Arlington using electric impacts and figured it was just showing off. Then I watched a guy swap all four wheels on his Miata in like 4 minutes while I was still on my first lug nut. Picked up a Ryobi one on sale for $80 last month. Not a fan of the battery ecosystem but man it saves my back. Anyone else hold out way too long on something obvious?

Yeah I get what youre saying "mechanical leverage never needs a charge" but honestly I read somewhere that most modern impacts can do like 200+ lug nuts on a single battery. So unless youre running a tire shop out of your trunk the charge thing is kinda overblown. I held out for like 10 years too because I thought it was just a gimmick for people with more money than sense. But then I saw a youtube video where a guy tested a cheapo battery impact against a breaker bar and the impact undid a rusted lug nut in like 2 seconds flat. That sold me right there. My back doesnt miss wrestling with a 4 way tire iron on a hot summer day thats for sure. Only thing I still keep the torque wrench for is the final tighten but the impact saves all the hard work.
