How I got my garage queen to start after 4 winters with one tiny trick

My 1974 Datsun 260Z sat for years and every spring it was a nightmare to fire up, so I tried dragging it to a Cars and Coffee meet in Columbus last month on a rollback just to get opinions. A guy named Mouse (no joke, that's his name) told me to pour a half cup of gas down the carb throat and crank it with the throttle wide open, worked on the first spin but it backfired so loud a lady dropped her latte.
