Buddy with a restored '68 Camaro told me loud exhausts are just a flex, not a fix
He said his car ran worse after he put on open headers and that tuning the carb actually made it sound good. Got me wondering how many meets I've been to where guys are just compensating with noise instead of getting their engine right.

Oh absolutely, there's a guy at every local cruise-in with obnoxiously loud pipes and a car that can barely idle. I learned the hard way too that a properly tuned engine with good mufflers sounds way better than straight pipes covering up a mess.
