Can we talk about the customer who insisted on watching me seam a 15x20 Berber in their living room?

They stood there for three hours in Charlotte, saying 'I just want to make sure you don't cut corners' while I was laying a perfect double-bond seam, which honestly just made the whole job take longer and messed with my focus.

Have you ever tried just setting a little boundary right at the start? I had a homeowner stand over me once while I was doing a tricky pattern match, and I finally just smiled and said, "I get that you want it done right, but I really need to focus for this part. Feel free to check in with me when I'm halfway through." They actually backed off and sat down, and the job went way smoother. Sometimes people don't realize they're making it harder until you gently tell them. It might feel awkward, but it's worth it to save your sanity and do good work.

Man, that's like a free quality inspection you didn't ask for.

Ugh, why do people think standing over you helps anything? That sounds so stressful, having someone watch your every move for three hours straight. It always makes you second guess yourself even when you know exactly what you're doing. I'd be so annoyed trying to focus with that kind of pressure. They probably have no idea how much they actually slowed you down.
