A guy told me to stop stretching carpet with a knee kicker and I changed my whole approach
I was stretching a Berber in a rental near Boise when a veteran installer watched me use a knee kicker on the final wall. He said that tool only gets you so far and told me I was asking for wrinkles in six months. I switched to a power stretcher for every room after that, even small closets. The first job after the change took me 20 extra minutes but the carpet has stayed tight through two winters. Now I see other guys kicking everything and I wonder if they are cutting corners. Which side are you on, is a knee kicker enough for a whole house or do you always break out the power stretcher?
