Spent 6 hours trying to square a door frame that should have taken 45 minutes
I was hanging a prehung door in a 1950s house last Tuesday and the rough opening was out of plumb by almost a full inch on one side. After shimming, checking, reshimming, and still getting a binding swing, I finally realized the floor joist underneath had settled and was pulling the whole thing sideways. Has anyone else dealt with hidden framing issues that turned a quick job into an all-day nightmare?

23 bucks and an hour with a level wouldve told you that before you even pulled the old door. Sounds like you skipped the easy part and paid for it.

Used to think measuring was enough but seeing how hidden settling changes everything makes me reconsider.
