Showerthought: I used a dab of super glue to fix a wobbly jigsaw base plate
The plate on my old jigsaw was loose, making cuts wander. I put a tiny drop of super glue on the pivot post, let it get tacky, and reassembled it. It's been solid for 6 months now, but is this a legit fix or a hack that'll fail catastrophically?

Honestly that's a clever fix. But super glue gets brittle. What happens when that pivot needs to absorb a hard sideways shock, like hitting a knot? Does it just crack the glue bond, or could it snap something else because the joint isn't meant to be rigid?

Yeah, seen that happen... the glue cracks and the whole thing gets sloppy again. You really need a proper pin or a small bolt for any real load.

Nora's right about it getting sloppy, but a snapped glue joint might actually save the cheaper metal part from bending.
