Serious question, is Festool worth the hype or just a flex?
I wrote them off for years as overpriced gear for guys with more money than skill. Then I used a friend's TS 55 saw at a job site in Denver last month and the dust collection was unreal, zero cleanup. Anyone else come around on a tool brand they used to hate or still think it's all marketing?

I get where you're coming from, I felt the same way for years. Then I borrowed a friend's Festool sander and the dust collection honestly sold me, no more wiping down everything after a quick job. Sometimes you just have to try the thing to understand why people pay for it.

Finding sawdust in your coffee" is a level of dedication to woodworking I'm not sure I'm ready for.

I spent three whole weekends last fall sanding a single bookshelf with a cheap palm sander and a shop vac that was basically just moving dust around the room. @the_beth you are absolutely right about the dust collection being the real game changer. My garage looked like a crime scene and I was finding sawdust in my coffee for a week after. I finally caved and bought one of those Festool sanders after watching my neighbor's setup and honestly I felt like an idiot for not doing it sooner. Now I just tell myself I'm paying for clean lungs and less sweeping time, not for a fancy color.
