Pro tip: Don't cheap out on a new miter saw blade for a big trim job

I grabbed a $35 blade for a client's crown molding and it burned the wood, costing me half a day to sand and re-cut everything. What's your go-to blade brand for clean cuts on oak?

Wait, it burned the wood? That sounds like the blade was totally wrong for the job. I learned that lesson the hard way too. For oak trim, I only use a Freud Diablo blade now, their fine finish one. It costs more but it never burns and the cut is so smooth. What kind of blade did you even buy for that price?

I grabbed a basic 40-tooth combo blade from the big box store for like twenty bucks. It's not like I'm building a museum piece here, it's just some trim for a closet. A little burn sanded right out anyway. People act like you need a hundred dollar blade for every single cut but sometimes the cheap one gets the job done.

Buddy of mine bought the cheapest blade he could find and spent three weekends fixing burn marks.
