A 71 year old client grabbed my block plane and said 'you're fighting it, let the tool work'
I was trimming a sticky front door at her place in Tucson and getting nowhere fast, just muscling the plane across the edge. She watched me for two minutes and pulled it out of my hands, then pushed it with two fingers like it weighed nothing and peeled off a curl you could read through. Been trying to push less and let the iron bite ever since, so what little habits did an old timer have to break for you?
