TIL telling people to go get a cert before they job hunt is bad advice and I have the spreadsheet to prove it
Everyone in this forum says get a cert first, then apply. I did that for 8 months and got nowhere. Then a guy at a job fair in Toledo told me to apply anyway and learn on the clock. So I applied to 40 jobs with zero certs and got 6 callbacks in 3 weeks. Landed one at $23 an hour plus they paid for my training. The cert crowd means well but they are costing people real money in lost time. Am I off base here or did someone else skip the cert and get hired first?
