Rant: Had to pick between dental assisting school and IT certification at 32

So last year I was stuck choosing between a 9 month dental assisting program that cost $4k or a CompTIA A+ cert that ran about $3k with study materials. I went with the dental route because I already knew the basics from my front desk job at a clinic. Man what a mistake. The program was a joke, half the instructors barely showed up and I learned more from YouTube. Now I'm stuck in a job that pays $16 an hour and my back hurts all the time. Anybody else pick the wrong path and regret it hard?

Learned more from YouTube" hit too close to home. Paid $3k for the same thing.
