My job hunt hit 100 applications sent with zero offers

I just passed the 100 application mark in my switch from retail management to an office admin role. In my experience, I thought my people skills would easily transfer, but the sheer number of 'no's' made me realize I needed a totally different resume. Has anyone else hit a wall like this and found a way to fix their approach?

Tbh that "totally different resume" thing hits home. I tried moving from food service to event planning and my first ten applications went nowhere. A friend finally told me my old resume just listed tasks like "managed inventory." I had to rewrite everything to show skills like "coordinated weekly schedules for a team of 15" instead. It felt like learning a new language.

That is such a common struggle, and it's so frustrating when you know you have the skills but cannot get them across. Learning to reframe those daily tasks into something an HR manager can picture in an office setting really is its own education. The worst part is that the first few rejections make you start doubting your own experience, not just the resume format.

Sounds like you had to translate your whole work history from restaurant speak to corporate.
