My first week at a new job I accidentally CC'd the whole company on a rant about my boss
I was 3 days into a career switch from retail to an office gig in Chicago. I typed up a message venting about my manager's micromanaging and hit send without checking the To field. Turns out I sent it to the entire 200-person company listserv. My boss pulled me into a meeting room 10 minutes later and I thought for sure I was fired. Instead she laughed and said 'at least you're honest' and now we actually get along better. Has anyone else survived a terrible first-week screw up?

Wait, did you actually get a better relationship out of it?

I did something similar about 15 years ago. I was two weeks into a bookkeeping job and sent a complaint about the office coffee maker to what I thought was just my friend down the hall. It went to the whole floor, about 50 people. The office manager showed up at my desk with a brand new coffee maker and a note that said "problem solved." Nobody held it against me after that, and honestly it broke the ice with people I'd never talked to before. Just own it, apologize once, and don't keep bringing it up. People forget faster than you think.
