Guy in my office said he'd never quit without a new job lined up, and I can't decide if he's right
I was grabbing coffee last Tuesday and this guy Marcus, who does IT support, said he'd never leave a job without something signed first. He said a gap on your resume makes hiring managers nervous, and he watched his brother go 5 months without work back in 2019. But my sister quit her clinic job cold in Charlotte with nothing lined up and had a better offer in 3 weeks, said the free time let her actually interview well instead of squeezing calls in on lunch. I see both sides, I guess it depends on your savings and how burned out you are. For people who made the jump, did you line something up first or just leave? And did the gap ever come up in interviews?
