Figuring out how to explain my old job to new people took me a solid year, maybe more.
I kept trying to give the full story from my 8 years in retail management, but a friend in HR finally told me to just say 'I led a team and managed daily operations for a high-volume store' and save the details for later, so has anyone else found a better short line for a totally different field?

Oh man, this is everywhere now, isn't it? We're all trying to shrink our whole lives into these little sound bites. It's like we're all writing our own ad copy for a product called "Me." You see it on dating apps, at parties, and definitely in job talks. Why do we feel like we have to explain everything from the very start?

My buddy in marketing spent six months overthinking his elevator pitch. I mean, it's just a job title, not your life story.
