Appreciation post: I was a glorified phone operator at a call center, now I climb under houses for a living
Two years ago I sat in a cubicle in Columbus answering 80 calls a day about billing errors, and now I crawl through crawl spaces looking for termite damage. The switch happened when a buddy asked me to help him on a pest job for $200 cash, and I realized I liked finding the problem way more than reading a script. I make about $15k less on paper, but I get to leave when the work is done and nobody times my bathroom breaks. The hard part is the heat and the spiders, not the actual work. Anyone else here leave a climate controlled office for something way dirtier and never look back?
