A nurse in Tulsa handed me her badge and said 'try it for a shift' and that's how I ended up leaving banking
I was sitting in a diner in Tulsa back in March, waiting on a friend, and the lady next to me was in scrubs. We got to talking and when I said I worked in banking she laughed and pulled her badge off, slid it across the table and said 'try it for a shift, worst thing that happens is you hate it.' I thought she was joking but she gave me her unit manager's number on a napkin. Six weeks later I was doing a shadow shift on a med surg floor and I have never been so tired or so sure about anything in my life. I put in my notice at the bank 3 weeks after that, took a $6 an hour pay cut to start, and I just passed my CNA exam on my second try. My old coworkers think I lost my mind and honestly some days I agree with them at 5am. If you are on the fence about a switch, has a random stranger ever pushed you into it like that?
