Went to a big job fair in Chicago last month. The recruiters there were all asking for skills I've never even heard of.

Yeah, that tracks. I saw a posting the other day that wanted "cloud-native synergistic orchestration" experience. Had to look it up and it still didn't make sense. Feels like half of these are just buzzwords strung together to sound fancy. Makes you wonder if the people writing the job ads even know what they mean.

But don't you think there's something kinda sneaky going on here too? Like some companies deliberately write these jumbled ads so they can rule out anyone who doesn't already speak their made up language. It's a gatekeeping thing. If you can't decode "leveraging agile blockchain synergy" then maybe they figure you're not part of their little club. Honestly, that sounds worse than just a mistake. It feels like they're weeding out people who are too normal.

Read somewhere that HR just copies terms from other listings. Maybe they don't know either.
