Update on my resume rewrite that backfired
I spent $300 on a fancy resume service last month, thinking it would help me land more interviews. They gave me this slick one-page design with lots of buzzwords. I sent it out for 20 marketing manager jobs and got zero calls back. My old, simple two-page resume at least got me a few interviews. I guess a flashy format can't cover up weak content, right? Has anyone else had a resume makeover that actually hurt their chances?

That one-page format might be getting auto-filtered out.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen with a single page resume last year. Sent out like 30 apps and got zero replies until I switched to a two-pager. @harper_smith is totally onto something with the auto-filter idea. It's like the system just eats the one page format and spits it out. Makes you wonder how many good resumes get lost that way.
