Saw a huge jump in my salary after switching from general admin to a specialized role

I spent like 4 years as a general admin assistant in Cincinnati making $38k. Then I took a 6 month certification in medical billing and coding, got a job at a local clinic, and my starting pay was $52k. It was wild how much just narrowing my focus changed things. Has anyone else seen a big pay bump from getting a specific cert or switching industries?

38k to 52k is a real nice jump, I'm happy for you. That kind of change makes a big difference in day to day life when you're used to scraping by. It's good to hear when someone gets a little reward for putting in the work to learn something new.

Exactly. Niche skills pay way better than general ones nowadays.
