Overheard my buddy's boss say something wild about salary negotiations
I was grabbing coffee near my shop yesterday and heard this guy tell his employee that asking for a raise shows you're 'not a team player.' That stuck with me because I've always thought the opposite - if you know your worth, you should ask for it. Has anyone else run into a boss who actually gets weird about you wanting more money?

dude that's such a toxic mindset. honestly i walked into my old boss's office once and straight up said i needed a raise or i'd have to look elsewhere. he got all weird about it too, said i was being greedy. but here's the thing - i had another offer lined up so i just left. sometimes you gotta show them you're serious. the really good bosses I've worked with actually respect you for asking, even if they can't give it right away.

Exactly. Having another offer in your back pocket changes the whole conversation.
