Just realized my resume was getting ignored because I used a 2 column layout

Was sending out resumes for like 4 months and getting nothing back. My buddy who's a recruiter looked at it and said the ats software couldnt parse half my info because of the columns. Changed it to a simple single column format last sunday and finally got an interview call on wednesday. Anyone else have their fancy formatting screw them over?

But don't recruiters still need to actually read it once you get past the software?

Swapped to single column and had an interview within a week too.
