Just passed the 1,000 application mark and nobody warned me about this

So I hit 1,000 job applications sent out over the last 6 months. Everyone told me the numbers don't matter, just focus on quality. But I kept track anyway and honestly, seeing that big number actually helped me. It showed me I wasn't slacking off even when I got zero replies for weeks at a time. I think people are too quick to say stop counting when the act of counting kept me going. Has anyone else tracked their total and found it motivating instead of depressing?

Oh I have to disagree HARD here. That number would absolutely crush my motivation and make me feel like I'm just screaming into the void.

@sarah_connor Right? "Screaming into the void" is exactly how I'd feel too, @emma72, that number would just kill any drive I had left.
