Just found out most entry level jobs get 250+ applications in 48 hours
I was talking to a recruiter friend in Austin and she pulled up a posting for a basic admin role that got 312 apps in two days. She said the first 50 get looked at and the rest are basically invisible unless you know someone. That number floored me. I always thought my resume was getting read, but turns out it's just sitting in a pile nobody touches. How are you all getting past that first wall?
Depends on the recruiter but the "first 50" thing isn't really how it works. Most of them use software that filters resumes before a human ever sees them, so it's less about being early and more about whether your resume matches the keywords. The 312 number is real though, that part doesn't surprise me at all.
