Hit $100k in savings today and it totally changed my career plan

I always figured I'd grind at this corporate job until 65 but seeing that number in my account made me realize I could switch to something I actually like. Maybe a part-time gig or even start my own thing. Anyone else have a savings milestone that made them rethink their whole path?

Isn't it funny how a number on a screen can suddenly make you see the whole hamster wheel differently? Once you cross that threshold, the whole "need this job to survive" feeling just kind of evaporates. It's like your brain finally gives you permission to think about what you actually want instead of what you have to do. That financial cushion changes the whole equation, doesn't it?

Blinked twice when I read "cross that threshold" because I'm still scraping by paycheck to paycheck at 58 years old. Can't even imagine what that must feel like to have that safety net under you instead of just hoping the net shows up. Good for you for getting there, but it's a world away from where most of us are standing right now.
