Blew $2,300 on a coding bootcamp in Denver and my only job offer was $17 an hour
I need to warn people about this because I wish someone had warned me. Back in 2023 I paid $2,300 upfront for a 12 week online coding bootcamp that promised job placement and said grads average $75k starting. The whole thing was pre recorded videos from like 2019 and a Discord where the "mentors" took two or three days to answer anything. I finished it, built the three projects they told me to build, and applied to 140 jobs over five months. I got exactly one offer, a contract gig doing basic HTML edits for $17 an hour with no benefits. When I asked the bootcamp about the job placement guarantee they pointed me to a line in the terms saying placement help means they send you a list of job boards. That was it. I'm not saying all bootcamps are scams but I want to know if anyone here actually got a real job out of one, and if so what school, because I clearly picked wrong.

140 applications and one contract gig doing HTML edits at $17 an hour, that is brutal.
