Appreciation post: I started blocking out two hours on my calendar every Friday for 'admin catch-up'

My invoicing and paperwork used to fall a week behind, but now it's done by Monday. Has anyone else found a simple scheduling trick that fixed a chronic work headache?

Absolute game changer. I started doing the same thing but for email, just a thirty minute block first thing in the morning. The inbox used to run my whole day, now it's just a task I knock out. It's shocking how much mental space it frees up.

That "mental space" thing is so true... I started putting my phone in another room after dinner. It's not even about work, just not having that thing buzzing on the coffee table. My brain finally feels quiet at night.

Ended up doing something similar with my Slack notifications (yeah, work stuff). Cutting it down to just two check-ins a day made a huge difference in how distracted I felt. It's wild how much that constant pinging was messing with my focus without me even realizing it.
