A manager in a Denver office told me to stop saying 'sorry' in emails

I was reviewing a project draft with her, and she pointed out I'd written 'sorry for the delay' three times in one thread. She said, 'Try 'thanks for your patience' instead, it changes the whole tone.' Has anyone else had a simple phrase change how they come across at work?

Ever think it makes you sound less sure of yourself?

Totally agree, swapping "sorry" for "thanks" made me feel way more confident.

Start using it at work when someone points out a mistake I made. It shifts the whole tone of the conversation, @robinb38, and makes me feel less defensive. Trust me, once you try it a few times, it just feels more natural.
