Refinanced my 21% loan down to 6.9% after my credit union guy said one sentence that saved me $187 a month
I was paying $511 a month on a 2019 Civic I bought during a rough patch two years ago, and the rate was a laughable 21%. Last Thursday I walked into my credit union branch in Reno just to ask about a personal loan for tires and the teller goes, 'why are you still on that auto note?' She pulled my file, saw I had made 22 straight payments on time, and said they refi car loans at 6.9% for members with clean history, no hard sell, no add ons. It took 40 minutes and one pay stub, and my new payment is $324 with the same payoff date. Nobody at the dealer ever mentioned that refis exist because they lose money when you leave. If your rate starts with a 2 I want to hear how long you sat on it before you finally called somebody.
