Pro tip: a guy at the Daytona flea market swore a $20 vacuum gauge saves you $200 in guessing
He claimed you can tune a carb and find a vacuum leak with a cheap gauge instead of throwing parts at it, and I found mine for $18 at a swap meet in Ohio. Half of me thinks it's the best money I ever spent on the truck, the other half thinks it just made me lazy about actually diagnosing stuff. Anyone here actually tune by vacuum or do you just chase symptoms like me?
Oh man I grabbed one of those at a yard sale like 5 years ago and it honestly changed how I mess with my old beater. I check vacuum first now before I start pulling stuff apart, saved me from buying a carb I didn't need at least twice. Idk if it made me lazy, feels more like it just cuts out the dumb guessing part.
