A guy at the Pick n Pull in Phoenix showed me how to pull a fuse box for 8 bucks instead of paying 60 online
I was hunting a blower motor resistor for my 2003 Civic at the Pick n Pull on 27th Ave in Phoenix last Saturday. An older guy saw me struggling with the connector and told me to grab the whole fuse box from a wrecked Civic for 8 bucks, since the resistor alone runs 40 to 60 online. He said the yard charges by part type, not by what's attached to it, so a fuse box counts as one part. I pulled it in about 15 minutes with a 10mm socket and some wiggling, took it home, and swapped the resistor out of it. Anyone else got tricks for getting more part for less at the yard?
That 27th Ave yard prices by the part, so grab whole assemblies whenever you can, like a throttle body with the sensors still on it or a steering column if you need the switch. Bring a 10mm, a 12mm, and a pair of wire cutters, and check the row closest to the entrance first since those cars get picked over less. Pull the part yourself and skip the online markup, the yard doesn't care what's bolted to it.
