Why does nobody talk about the way cancel culture treats local business owners?

Last month I saw a small bakery near me get dogpiled online for a typo in a holiday sign that someone called offensive. The shop lost half its weekend customers before people realized it was just a misspelling, and I learned that the damage happens way faster than any correction can fix it.

Heard a friend of mine run a little coffee shop in Portland... someone posted a pic of their chalkboard where they wrote "expresso" instead of "espresso" and called it cultural appropriation of Italian coffee culture. It blew up in some local Facebook group for two days straight. She lost a bunch of regulars who believed the post before she could even explain it was just a spelling mistake from a sleepy barista. Took her three weeks to get her weekend rush back to normal. Stuff like that makes you realize how fast people jump to conclusions online.
