Warning: I joined a mock cancel trial and the mob turned on the moderator

Signed up for one of those roleplay cancel culture trials on Discord, 40 people in the server. Thought it would be a fun debate about some influencer drama. Instead, the moderator started playing both sides, people got heated, and within two hours the chat voted to 'cancel' the moderator for being biased. He shut the whole thing down. Weird part is, nobody actually learned anything about the original case. Has anyone else seen these mock trials spiral sideways like that?
