Vent: a guy in Portland doxxed me over a dog grooming video and I lost 40% of my bookings
Back in February I posted a 30 second clip on TikTok of me shaving a matted doodle. The dog came in with fur so tangled it was pulling at the skin, and the owner had already agreed to a full shave down. Some guy in Portland stitched my video with a caption saying I was abusing animals and tagged my business page. Within 48 hours my Google reviews got hit with about 60 one star posts from people who had never set foot in my shop, and my bookings dropped 40% over the next three weeks. I tried replying to every comment with the vet note and the owner's written consent, which just made it worse because people said I was exploiting the dog twice. The owner actually posted her own video defending me and that got buried in like 200 replies. I ended up deleting all my social accounts and going back to just word of mouth. Has anyone actually recovered from a pile on like this, or is the damage just permanent once the internet decides you're the villain?
