Tried giving a public apology video after getting dragged online... made things way worse

I posted a 3 minute video apologizing for a dumb tweet I made back in 2019, after some people in my niche found it and called me out... Instead of cooling things down, it just gave everyone more ammo to pick apart my tone and timing, and the thread got shared to a bigger drama forum. Has anyone else had a sincere apology backfire on them like that?

Watched a buddy do a 2 minute apology for a bad joke last year that turned a 50 reply thread into a 400 comment dumpster fire. Online mobs don't want a sorry, they want a punching bag that keeps swinging back. Best move is to say nothing, delete the old post, and let the next outrage cycle eat them instead.

Man, that's like throwing a bucket of gas on a fire and hoping it goes out. If they're already mad, a video just gives them a slow motion replay to salt every little thing you did wrong.
