6 years ago is practically a different lifetime online. Just delete the account or lock it down tight and ignore the noise.

Man, I gotta disagree with this "different lifetime" take. Yeah it was 6 years ago, but you POSTED that stuff, it's still out there, and people HAVE THE RIGHT to hold you accountable for it. If you said something dumb or offensive, time doesn't just magically erase it. Deleting the account feels like running away instead of owning it. I mean, if the tweet is genuinely that bad, maybe you should be apologizing and explaining why you don't believe that anymore, not just hiding it. That whole "ignore the noise" attitude is how people never learn and just keep making the same mistakes.
