That canceled author from last year didn't deserve the pile-on
I read through the whole thread about that indie writer who got called out for a joke in 2019, and I think people missed the context where it was clearly sarcasm aimed at a specific event. The mob moved so fast they didn't even wait for her full explanation video to come out three days later. Has anyone else seen a case where the apology came out fast but nobody bothered to actually watch it?

Yeah that's the thing that gets me... a friend of mine runs a local book club and she actually tried to watch that author's apology video the day it dropped, but nobody else in the group would even click the link. They all just shared the screenshot of the joke out of context and moved on. She said the video was pretty genuine too, the author admitted it was poorly timed but explained the whole thing clearly. But by then the damage was done, the story had already spread to three different subreddits with the full context stripped out. It's like people just want the rush of being right without actually checking if they are.
