Realized I was the one piling on without reading the full story
Last month there was a thread about some indie author getting called out for a tweet. I jumped in and posted a angry comment based on just the screenshot. Then someone replied linking to the full thread which showed context I missed completely. The author was actually quoting someone else and agreeing with the opposite position. I deleted my comment but 30 people had already liked it. Has anyone else caught themselves joining a cancellation before checking the original source?

Yeah that happened to me last year and honestly it made me rethink how I post. Best thing I did was making a rule for myself: never comment on anything until I've read the actual source and checked the date. Takes an extra 30 seconds but saves a ton of embarrassment. Also started keeping a "wait five minutes" rule before posting anything that pisses me off. If it's still true after cooling down, then maybe say something. The likes you got probably don't mean much in the long run but the lesson stays with you.

Oh come on @simon378, sometimes the knee jerk reaction is the only honest one you get.
