Local teacher canceled over a joke at a school assembly last month
A teacher at my daughter's middle school in Dayton made a harmless joke about homework during the morning assembly, and a parent filmed it and put it on Facebook. Within a week, the school board got 200 emails demanding she be fired, even though the kids laughed and she's been teaching there 15 years. Has anyone else seen something this small blow up that fast?

200 emails in a week is a lot, but a school board that size probably gets that many on a slow Tuesday about bus routes. Without seeing the actual joke, it's hard to say if it was harmless or crossed a line teachers know to avoid. Still, going straight to firing after 15 years over one parent's video seems like an overreaction.

Bet nobody's talking about how the school board probably already had a target on this teacher for other stuff. 15 years on the job and one video gets you canned instantly? Something else was brewing behind the scenes.
